Bellagio March 2011 : five-day workshop on Design Anthropology, Indigenous Knowledge, and Culture-Based Innovation to be held at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Centre in Italy in late March 2011 (March 27 to April 2, 2011). We have invited a total of nineteen design anthropologists, Indigenous knowledge experts, and industry innovation consultants to participate with representation from Denmark, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, China, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, India, Canada and the United States. The objectives of the workshop on Design Anthropology, Indigenous Knowledge, and Culture-Based Innovation are threefold: to (1) create and disseminate theoretical knowledge on design anthropology, indigenous knowledge, and culture-based innovation, (2) develop collaborative projects demonstrating its values and outcomes, and (3) establish a network of scholars/practitioners to advance its ideas. Over a three-year period, it is hoped that the network produces two books and other publications, successfully fund and implement two collaborative projects with three global communities, and exchange at least two scholars per year between institutions.

Ukraine : I was in Ukraine recently. I discovered an extremely warm, beautiful place with lovely people, striving to improve their eastern europe image. Soviet culture is very present and visible, so are marks and signs of the world wars. Amazing quest of spiritual practices and respect for Indian thoughts delighted me with surprise accomodation of the colour of my skin. A place i didnt know, and only read about. It is however not a english friendly country yet...so make sure you make some friends before you go..friends you will make. :)
